VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT
April 4, 2017 Spring Election

Towns of Springdale, Primrose, Perry, Blue Mounds, Cross Plains & Vermont
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 for the Spring Election may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. Citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.
TO OBTAIN AN ABSENTEE BALLOT YOU MUST MAKE A REQUEST IN WRITING.
Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both. You may also request an absentee ballot by letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. YOU MUST ALSO PROVIDE YOUR PHOTO ID.
Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk.
You can also personally go to the clerk’s office, complete a written application, and vote an absentee ballot. YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR PHOTO ID TO RECEIVE AN ABSENTEE BALLOT.
THE DEADLINE FOR MAKING APPLICATION TO VOTE ABSENTEE BY MAIL IS 5:00 P.M., ON THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE ELECTION, MARCH 30, 2017.
THE FIRST DAY TO VOTE AN ABSENTEE BALLOT IN THE CLERK’S OFFICE IS MONDAY, MARCH 20, 2017. THE DEADLINE FOR VOTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT IN THE CLERK’S OFFICE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2017. NO IN-PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING MAY OCCUR ON A LEGAL HOLIDAY.
ALL VOTED BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE MUNICIPAL CLERK SO THE CLERK CAN DELIVER THEM TO THE PROPER POLLING PLACE BEFORE THE POLLS CLOSE ON APRIL 4, 2017 THE DAY OF THE ELECTION.
ANY BALLOTS RECEIVED AFTER THE POLLS CLOSE WILL NOT BE COUNTED. ALL BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 8:00 PM ON THE DAY OF THE ELECTION.

To register to vote online, visit myvote.wi.gov. There you can type in your name and birthdate to determine if you are registered as a Wisconsin voter. If you are not, you can fill out a form and present it at the polls the day of the election.

RIDES AVAILABLE TO DMV FOR PHOTO ID
There is a Voter ID Hotline where you can make arrangements for a free ride to the Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a State ID that can be used for voting if you live in Dane County. This is funded by the Dane County Clerk's Office. To make an appointment or get more information, call 608-729-7720. The ride is with Union Cab to and from the DMV. No extra stops are allowed. Family members may ride with you. A volunteer will help you prepare documents and talk to staff at the DMV.
